you can do this on edit profile on your myspace. you don't need a code for it. its under the privacy tab.

no you cant figured out if the person is online or not, if he/she hide his/her online status. but there is a hint.

1. click browser, update it using "last login" and check "my friends" rather than full network. and viola if she/he appeard there then your problem is solved.

2. check his/her last log in. if she was logged or not. you could assumed that he/her is actually online at that time.

3. check his latest comment if someone commented him/her at few minutes ago then probably he/she is online.
