Even if you "hide" your blogs, people could just look at the source code and get to them anyway. Your best bet is to make you blog entries "friends only" or if you want close friends to be able to read certain blogs and everyone else not to then you need to add those close friends to your "preferred list"

how do you do that?

search their name/email address and then when they pop up it will let you add them.

Now not only can you block non-friends, but you can block non-friends and "not-so-close" friends. You just set the blog or blogs you want private to those special people to "preferred readers only".
